1. What This Covers

This page explains how file.ax uses cookies and similar browser storage for authentication, security, and product functionality.

2. Cookies We Use

Essential session cookie: connect.sid is used to keep you signed in and tied to your server-side session.
Security/session hardening: session cookies are configured with secure attributes based on environment.
No advertising cookies: file.ax does not use ad-tech profiling cookies for behavioral ads.

3. Local Storage / IndexedDB

The frontend may use localStorage, sessionStorage, and IndexedDB for UX settings and, for E2E flows, temporary client-side decryption session material needed by service-worker download/view.

This client-side storage is browser-local and controlled by your browser settings and site data controls.

4. If You Disable Cookies

Authentication and account-linked features may stop working if essential cookies are blocked or deleted. Public file access can still work where login is not required.

5. Retention and Controls

You can clear cookies/site data at any time via your browser.
Session lifetime is controlled server-side and may expire automatically.
